The Community Champions Program

Since publishing Zed’s source code over two years ago, the repository has garnered more than 84,000 GitHub stars and ranks among the platform’s top 200 most-starred projects, with over 4,300 pull requests from hundreds of independent contributors merged between January and May 2026 alone. In response to this thriving community, Zed’s Head of Community proposed the Community Champions program to formally acknowledge the organization’s most engaged and dedicated contributors. The program recognizes frequent contributors and deepens their connection to the Zed project and team.
