Following the announcement of the new Xero Developer pricing last December, we’ve begun migrating apps to their new plans in cohorts. Since not all apps are migrating at once, we wanted to share a guide about what you can expect and may need to do to prepare.

Checklist
- Check your data egress usage: Use the Egress Usage report in the developer portal to track your API consumption.
- Verify compliance: Ensure any required certification or security reviews for your new plan are finalized within 30 days of being notified that your migration is scheduled to avoid service interruptions.
- Update your billing details: Add a valid credit card in the developer portal. This must be done within 30 days of receiving your migration notice to avoid service interruptions or plan downgrades. Reminder, the only approved billing method is by credit card.
- Review Premium access: Aside from Rapid Sync which is available in the Plus tier, all other Premium features are only available to apps in the Advanced tier and above. If you are currently using Premium features and want to discontinue this use, please reach out to Xero Developer support. Discontinuing your use of Premium features means you will lose access to the Journals endpoint, Xero Practice Manager API and/or bulk connections (as applicable).
- Explore the different benefits associated with each plan: Review the Pricing Page to understand the full benefits of your new plan and explore other plans.
Identify your cohort
To check your connection count, please log in to the Xero Developer Portal, select your app, and navigate to the App Details tab to view your current number of active tenant connections.

Note: Apps with under 6 connections and not using Premium Features were migrated on 2 March and are now on the free Starter plan. No action is required.
Migration dates*
Please note that these dates may be subject to change. We will keep this page updated, as needed.

Billing dates
- New pricing and data egress metering begins: Data egress metering for paid plans will begin on the first day of the month following your migration (e.g., metering begins 1 May for apps migrated in April).
- First invoice: Your first invoice covers both your monthly plan cost and any overages (i.e. egress metering) you may have incurred. It will arrive on the first day of the month that follows when usage metering began (e.g., your first invoice will arrive 1 June for apps that start usage metering on 1 May).
XASS (Xero App Store Subscription) apps
To ensure a smooth transition for your XASS customers, the following actions are required:
Immediate actions:
- Archive your pricing plans: Visit the Xero Developer Portal to archive your app’s active XASS plans. More information is available here.
- Redirect your buy flow: Remove the ability for new customers to purchase a subscription to your app via XASS and redirect them to your own billing system.
Transition existing customers: Regardless of how you conduct this process, please email api@xero.com so we can assist you in this process. There are two options for moving your XASS subscribers:
- Move subscribers with support from Xero Developer: Working together will reduce customer impact. Xero Developer can assist you as you move subscribers to your own billing system.
- Move subscribers yourself: If you choose to move subscribers to your own billing system without support from Xero, you will still need to reach out to Xero Developer Support so we can disconnect your subscribers from XASS. This is an important step so they are not double billed.
Please reach out to Xero Developer support to kick off your XASS migration and for more information please refer to the XASS blog here.
