X-Energy has submitted its Xe-100 High Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor for the UK’s Generic Design Assessment process, a critical licensing milestone. The company, partnering with Centrica, aims to deploy up to 6 GW of advanced nuclear capacity in the United Kingdom, with Hartlepool as the preferred first site. The regulatory assessment is expected to conclude by the end of 2029 and will benefit from enhanced collaboration between UK and US nuclear regulators.
