African Month 2026: 91 new articles to improve coverage of Africa on Wikipedia

Wikimedia Spain’s African Month initiative, held throughout May 2026, resulted in the creation of 91 new articles on Spanish Wikipedia covering the African continent. The month-long editing campaign, aligned with Africa Day celebrations, engaged five volunteer editors who worked to expand and improve content. The project demonstrates the value of collaborative initiatives in enriching the encyclopedia with underrepresented regional content.
