Vanderbilt names Elizabeth Zechmeister vice provost of graduate education and growth initiatives, dean of graduate studies

Vanderbilt University has appointed Elizabeth Zechmeister as vice provost for graduate education and dean of the Graduate School, effective July 1, 2026, succeeding C. Andre Christie-Mizell who completed his five-year tenure. Zechmeister is a Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Political Science with a track record in student mentorship and has received multiple teaching and mentoring awards during her tenure at Vanderbilt since 2008. Her appointment reflects the university’s commitment to expanding graduate education and professional development initiatives.
