America's July 4th Skies, Ranked: The 2026 Fireworks Index in Five Lists

Tomorrow.io analyzed all 1,667 major U.S. Fourth of July fireworks displays using its Fireworks Index, which scores cloud ceiling height, smoke clearance, storm risk, ground fire danger, and sky darkness. Results show 62% of the country draws a “Great” sky, with Lakewood, Colorado (score 91) and Burlington, Vermont (score 90) ranking highest, while the Bay Area and Madison, Wisconsin face poor conditions.
