INTERPOL Warns Cybercrime Exceeds 30% of Recorded Crime in Much of Asia-Pacific

INTERPOL’s regional threat assessment covering January 2024 to March 2025 found that cybercrime exceeds 30% of recorded offenses in over half of surveyed Asia-Pacific countries, with scams and phishing being the most prevalent threats. The report notes ransomware attacks surged to over 135,000 in 2024, while deepfake discussions on criminal forums increased 600% and phishing click rates doubled the global average.
