Android Targets Impersonation Scams With Fake Call Detection Feature

Android is rolling out a new Fake Call Detection feature designed to protect users from phone scams involving caller ID spoofing. The tool verifies whether incoming calls claiming to be from saved contacts actually originate from those contacts’ devices, displaying a warning if verification fails. The feature launches globally this month and initially targets Pixel devices running Android 12 or later, using encrypted signals through Google’s Phone app and Rich Communication Services technology.
