Alternative Approach for Populating CE1CRBR Characteristics

I need to identify a way to update the characteristics of the CE1CRBR (COPA) table after the order is created. Currently, these characteristics are populated during the document creation process via a BAPI, through an enhancement implemented in an include. However, in certain scenarios, this population is not occurring correctly.
