Transitioning from CSE/HR to SAP: Should I learn RAP and BTP directly?

Hi everyone, I come from a Computer Science Engineering ( CSE ) background, but due to some personal situations, I’ve been stuck working in the HR field for the last year . I’m really eager to get back into tech and transition into SAP development. I’m starting to look into learning SAP ABAP, but a few friends suggested that I should skip traditional/classical ABAP entirely and go straight for the RESTful ABAP Programming Model ( RAP ) and SAP BTP .
