SIGIR 2026: What We Learned at the 49th International ACM SIGIR Conference

Fig: SIGIR 2026 in Melbourne, the main auditorium during the second day keynote SIGIR 2026, the 49th International ACM SIGIR Conference on Research and Development in Information Retrieval, was held in Melbourne from 20 to 24 July 2026. As the top and flagship conference of the information retrieval community, it is highly selective, accepting only 18.4% of submissions for the full paper track. It brought together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to exchange ideas and discuss the field’s future.
