New Tricks for the R Sweave Drivers

Introduction The concept of literate programming was pioneered by Donald Knuth in 1984 to improve the documentation of computer programs, as this famous quote explains: I believe that the time is ripe for significantly better documentation of programs, and that we can best achieve this by considering programs to be works of literature. Hence, my title: “Literate Programming.” The aim of literate programming is to create programs that are suitable literature for human beings rather than a set of instructions to a computer.
