Can I use Shopify to send order confirmations for prescriptions?

You cannot send order confirmations using Shopify if the confirmation contains PHI, and for most telehealth companies, it does . Shopify won’t sign a BAA, and its Acceptable Use Policy states that merchants are responsible for following the law and the platform’s rules, and it names “uploading Protected Health Information subject to HIPAA” as a business activity the platform doesn’t support. So anything that qualifies as PHI shouldn’t pass through Shopify’s notification system, or sit in its order records.
