Rendering huge PDFs without running out of memory on Android

A single heavy PDF page can need a gigabyte to parse — enough to get an app killed on a phone. Here’s the memory monitor we built after Android stopped telling us when memory ran low, and how it lets the renderer back off instead of crashing.
