A hierarchical deterministic (HD) wallet generates every key and address it will ever need from a single starting value called a seed. Write down that seed once, and you can rebuild the entire wallet on any device. BIP-32 defined the idea in 2012, and nearly every modern Bitcoin wallet is built on it.
