NOAA announced the allocation of $123.6 million in fishery resource disaster funding from the American Relief Act, 2025, addressing disasters in Oregon, California, the Squaxin Island Tribe, and Alaska fisheries between 2019 and 2023. Covered fisheries include 2023/2024 Bering Sea snow crab, 2023 Oregon ocean commercial salmon, 2022 Chignik salmon, 2023 Upper Cook Inlet salmon, 2024 California Sacramento and Klamath River chinook, and 2023 Squaxin Island Puget Sound fall chum salmon. Funds support commercial and recreational fishermen, charter businesses, infrastructure, habitat restoration, vessel buybacks, and job retraining, administered by NOAA Fisheries with state and tribal entities.
