August is National Emergency Management Awareness Month , a designation started by the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Emergency Managers Committee and the U.S. Council of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) to spotlight a job most neighbors only think about when something goes wrong. IAEM represents emergency managers working in local, state, tribal, territorial, and federal government, as well as hospitals, universities, and utilities, and this month it’s asking them to do something that isn’t in most job descriptions: introduce themselves.
