Hot, dry, and windy conditions fueled the spread of wildfires across Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico in late June and early July, including Utah’s Babylon Fire (nearly 80,000 acres, zero containment) and Colorado’s Aspen Acres Fire (about 48,000 acres). Satellite imagery from Suomi NPP shows thermal anomalies overlaid with true-color reflectance to visualize fire locations and smoke.
