Microsoft's Legal Agent in Word - why this time it feels different

The Legal Agent in Word (Microsoft 365 Copilot Legal Agent for Word) could easily be interpreted as another incremental Copilot capability. And for those with longer-term memory (and possibly PTSD as a result)  it would be easy to dismiss as another doomed attempt by Microsoft to build a legal app. My bet is that both would miss what is actually happening here with the Legal Agent. This feature release is less about adding AI into Word and more about moving from drafting assistance into something that begins to participate in legal workflows themselves.
