Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a major cause of chronic liver disease, with weight loss as the pivotal therapeutic strategy. However, the metabolic and molecular adaptations underlying rapid weight loss remain incompletely defined. In this pilot study, women with obesity and MASLD but without diabetes consumed a very low-calorie diet (VLCD) for 8 weeks.
