Vincent Coltellino leads the Library of Congress’s synthetic DNA data storage initiative, which investigates synthetic DNA as a high-density, scalable, and durable medium for storing the Library’s digital collections. In his first year he established a contract with the University of Washington to critically analyze the processes required to implement DNA data storage technology, yielding lessons relayed to the broader DNA data storage community and a contribution to America’s Time Capsule for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
