Collateral is the largest, least glamorous inefficiency in capital markets. Nasdaq and The ValueExchange surveyed firms that sit across the collateral chain: investment banks, custodians, prime brokers, asset managers and CCPs. The research showed that, among them, the average managed collateral pool is USD 74 billion, a quarter of which earns nothing.
