Just a thought about that ‘list’ of ‘filmi’ and the last reference to Trojan records. That was a popular record label, which largely delivered reggae to the UK masses in the late 1960s, early 1970s, selling ultra-cheap records of obscure reggae and ska music; loved by skinheads and suedeheads before they became a motif for the ultra-right win and their anti-immigration views, they were, ironically, probably the main label for introducing white working class kids to another musical culture…..quite what it’s doing in this song, I’m not sure, but there might some grounds for the cross-cultural aspect ?
