Left unattended, stool leakage can cause serious skin irritation that may lead to reduced skin integrity, pressure ulcers, and dangerous hospital-associated infections (HAIs). Leakage of stool may also interfere with the healing process of wounds, incontinence-associated dermatitis or injuries.
