ECB Turns to Merchants to Prove the Digital Euro Can Work Commercially

The European Central Bank has opened a call for euro-area e-commerce and mobile merchants to join a 12-month digital euro pilot starting in the second half of 2027. Merchants have until 27 October 2026 to apply.
