Ownership Is the Next Imperative for India’s GCCs to Become Generative Enterprises

India hosts roughly 2,117 GCCs generating about $98 billion in revenue and employing 2.36 million people. These centers have outgrown their back-office origins to sit at the front lines of engineering, data, and AI-led transformation, yet the 2026 HFS Generative GCC Index shows that authority has not kept pace with importance. GCCs earned strategic relevance faster than they earned the decision rights, budgets, and ownership to match it.
